newsprint drawings: self portraits

I spent some time recently thinking about mile stones in my childhood. I am working on the first Gallery 8 show at school (just slightly intimidating), and I asked fellow students to make work inspired by childhood memories of bath time. Not quite as literal as that, but you know... I was doing lots of thinking about it as well. Certain changes terrified, annoyed and embarrassed me. I think that's where these came from. And honestly, I don't usually use such blatant imagery, and frankly they are kind of embarrassing. But I like them as a series.

I spent way to much time one day, punching holes in newsprint...

Welding, Summer 2011

Back, he spurred like a madman, shouting a curse to the sky,
With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high.
Blood-red were his spurs in the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat;
When they shot him down on the highway.
Down like a dog on the highway,
And he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat.
